Safe Water Together Clean-Up

The Institute for Water and Health is seeking volunteers to help with continued efforts of a community debris clean-up of the Wilshire Canal. Gloves and trash collection bags will be provided for the volunteers. All volunteers must sign a waiver upon arrival.

Rivers Alive - Cleanup

Join us for a Rivers Alive community cleanup, in partnership with Savannah Riverkeeper, the City of Savannah, Georgia Interfaith Power and Light (GIPL), and Keep Savannah Beautiful. Volunteers will meet at Lake Mayer Park to check in. Participants will check-in near the entrance of Lake Mayer Park, on the right side of the parking lot. Volunteers will receive cleanup supplies and be assigned a cleanup location before traveling to one of the project sites. Each site will have a dedicated event coordinator to assist volunteers. Some locations will target hotspots near trash traps that were installed through a collaboration between Savannah Riverkeeper and Ogeechee Riverkeeper, made possible by NOAA Grant funding. These trash traps are part of a community effort to reduce litter before it reaches the marsh, rivers and the ocean. Groups and individuals of all ages are welcome. Pre-registration is required.

Clays for the Canoochee

Join us for a sporting clay shoot, benefitting Ogeechee RiverkeeperShow off your skills on the 50-shot course at 17 South Rod and Gun Club, a 300-acre private club with 15 scenic stations that challenge shooters of all levels. Ogeechee Riverkeeper 501(c)(3) works to protect, preserve, and improve the water quality of the Ogeechee River basin, which includes all of the streams flowing out to Ossabaw Sound and St. Catherine’s Sound. The Canoochee River is about 108 miles long and the Ogeechee River itself is approximately 245 miles long. The Ogeechee River system drains more than 5,500 square miles across 20 counties in Georgia.
