Join us for the 12th Annual Rhonda Langford Memorial Golf Tournament benefiting Abilities Unlimited. Abilities Unlimited provides critically needed services to those in our community born with or who have acquired a disability. We accomplish this through our Progressive Exercise Program and Special Olympics Weightlifting Program. About
Abilities Unlimited, Inc. is a local 501 (c) 3 corporation dedicated to improving the health and well-being of those in our community with disabilities. This is accomplished through providing an individualized workout program for each client. Our mission is to provide critically needed services to individuals in our community that have been born with, or have acquired a disability due to accidents, illness, or disease. Our clients' disabilities include brain injuries/neurological problems including stroke and multiple sclerosis (MS), spinal cord injuries including paraplegics, quadriplegics, transverse mellitus, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). We serve individuals with birth defects including cerebral palsy, hypertonic cerebral palsy, Down's Syndrome, Autism, and spina bifida.
Abilities Unlimited focuses on a Progressive Exercise Program, or "PEP." Individuals previously in physical therapy join to maintain and enhance their levels of fitness. Personal goals range from increasing strength, mobility, and independence, to gaining better range of motion. The program provides peer interaction from others that share common goals and clients receive one-on-one training from our certified staff during their scheduled appointments.
Abilities Unlimited Special Olympics Weightlifting team and staff are accredited through Special Olympics of Georgia area 17. We currently have 2 Special Olympics teams who train year round once a week. We travel for competitions one to two times a year and participate in local meets at the weightlifting center.
