About
Located in downtown Savannah on Orleans Square, Harper Fowlkes House was built in the Greek Revival style and reflects life in Savannah during the mid-19th century, both for wealthy elites and those working in the house. Purchased by early Savannah preservationist Alida Harper Fowlkes in 1939, the beautiful house interiors include furnishings and art purchased by Fowlkes over her 40 years as its owner. Fowlkes left the house to The Society of the Cincinnati in the State of Georgia upon her death in 1985, and the house remains a headquarters for the American heritage group. Discover the legacy of one of Savannah’s most prolific preservationists during guided tours of this architectural gem.
