About
The City of Savannah Municipal Archives' mission is to preserve, protect, and share the City of Savannah’s rich history. We accomplish this by:
• Collecting, managing, and providing access to the historical records of the City.
• Advising City agencies on historic preservation and archaeology to protect the City’s historical assets.
• Educating City employees, residents, and visitors about local history through outreach and interpretive programs.
• Administering the records management program and City Records Center to support the efficiency of City agencies.
Our goal is to safeguard the City of Savannah’s documentary heritage, ensure compliance with records laws, facilitate public access to information, and promote understanding of the City’s unique history.
