About

New Oak Theatre is a public charitable organization and non-equity professional theatre producing a wide variety of plays and musicals ranging from classics to new works. We’re a place where people can gather and experience art and community in the heart of historic Savannah, Georgia.

New Oak Theatre was founded by husband and wife duo, Chase and Sarah Brackett, in 2023. Inspired by Savannah’s historic architecture, willowy oak trees, and thriving creative spirit, we chose the name New Oak Theatre to reflect a blend of tradition and growth. Meet the people behind the work on our team page, explore upcoming performances, and discover ways to support our mission or volunteer.

The oak tree is filled with vibrant tradition indicated by the rings in its trunk tracking the passage of time; however, the rings don’t just represent tradition, they also represent growth. Every new ring is a new generation of families, friends, and individuals working together in the community to progress towards a better future.

Theatre, like the oak tree, is ever changing and ever growing. It challenges and expands ideas and culture. Similar to the rings of an oak tree, we see works of art representing a time in history—a snapshot of community depicted in vibrant colors.

We aim to emulate the oak: weaving history and innovation into each production and program at New Oak Theatre. Explore our upcoming performances, discover ways to support our mission, or volunteer with us.
